What is Badminton Orientation?
Orientation 1: Fridays 11 AM to Noon
Learn about the sport of badminton and how badminton is played. Learn the forehand and backhand grips and the meaning of the lines on the court as they relate to doubles. Then, rally with our Badminton instructors with the goal of “setting your grip” and finding the appropriate rhythm to maintain a series of hits with our badminton instructors.
Orientation 2: Tuesdays 6 PM - 7 PM
Learn and practice serve, forehand, and backhand strokes with Patty Malone and Gus Noble. We'll also demonstrate the proper footwork needed to move safely on the court. In addition to forehand and backhand strokes, we learn the drop, clear and drive and the location on the court those strokes are used. We also address the slam and pop shots. You are introduced to the thought process behind “offensive and defensive shots” and the court position assumed when those shots are executed.
Orientation 3: Fridays 11 AM to Noon
We introduce the Rally Scoring System in this Session as well as basic court position during and after service. Play a friendly game of badminton with new players and club members.
Orientation 4: Any day of play. See tab with schedule.
Join the Badminton Team for play. We recommend playing during "Friendly Monday" court time.
Sign-up for Badminton Orientation at the Front Desk of the Chota Recreation Center or Contact Patty Malone at 865-458-7937 to join our club and register for our orientation program.
